It may not have been the best first half ever witnessed but our Youth team showed dexterity in abundance in the second half at home today to beat Ramblers 4-2 for a 2nd successive win out of 2 games. Colemanstown reigned supreme for the first 15mins and showed great style and pure passion and went 1-0 to the good thanks to Mike Mulligan. A few slip ups in defence saw Colemanstown derailed a little as the visitors capitalised on some poor defending and sucked the life out of the Colemanstown boys. In that period Geordan Kenny was taken down for a penalty but the spot kick was missed by the ever reliable Kenny. 2-1 to Ramblers at half time.
In the 2nd half, all the meaningful possession was with Colemanstown who equalised not long into the half through an OG; thanks in the main to the hard work from Mulligan who showed he can add desire and influence to his talents with the ball. At this stage, Colemanstown had absorbed the first half setback as Oisin Flannery made it 3-2 with a lovely finish and splendid footwork from Geordan Kenny cracked the Ramblers net to make it 4-2 to Colemanstown. Robert Cosgrove, Jack Barrett and the green giant Shaun Keane were superb serving up far from a tame offering while Aaron Molloy on the wing ran his heart out. Conor Hibbitt was a joy to behold while keeper Daniel Glynn could not be faulted for the 2 goals. Man of the match was Robert Cosgrove who tidied up a lot of possession and was on the end of almost every move. Final score: Colemanstown 4; Ramblers 2. Next outing for these lads is November 11th in Furbo where we hope they can continue their good form. Thanks to Mark Kirby for the match notes while his assistant manager Conor Jackson was on duty for the A team in Achill in the Connacht Cup.
