Colemanstown 1; Craughwell 1 (Colemanstown win 3-0 on penalties)
Whatever Rooney can do for Man Utd, 10 year old James Barclay can do for Colemanstown United!! The opener came 20 mins in from a sensational overhead kick similar to Rooney’s following an inch perfect cross from Mossy Carr. It was a moment of genius worthy of winning any game that left the keeper totally rooted to the spot. Craughwell equalized, however, 10 mins into the 2nd half to bring the game to extra time which saw few opportunities for both sides. Conor O’Neill was almost celebrating the winner with seconds to go only to see his effort cleared off the line. Colm Hansbury, Jack Hughes, Jack Kennedy & James Moran were inspirational in defence while Josh Lane & Darren Brennan caused huge problems for Craughwell with their thwarting runs from midfield. Up front, Shane Lally, Mossy Carr & James Barclay showed some intricate moves in their attacking credentials. Oran Loughrey & Dylan Laffey also played their part when introduced. Justice was certainly deserved in the 3-0 win on penalties with James Barclay, Josh Lane & Jack Kennedy converting their efforts. It was a joyous day for these youngsters and indeed for their mentors, Joe Finnerty & Ray Moran, in beating a team who are sitting comfortably in the u-11 premier table to possibly take the league title.
