Our under 13’s had an impressive 2-1 victory against Corofin in a top of the table clash on Saturday. Colemanstown dominated the opening exchanges and were unlucky not to have taken the lead after a Conor O’Neill free kick hit the woodwork. After falling a goal behind, they had to dig deep and led by captain fantastic Jack Kennedy, they responded as he headed home a Conor O’Neill corner. As the half drew to a close, Colemanstown took the lead as a Josh Lane cross found Patrick Monaghan to stroke home what was to be the match winner and his first goal for the club. In the second half, Stephen Kelly in goal had little to do, as the back four of Darren Brennan, Jack Hughes, Jack Kennedy and Oran Loughery were superb. Patrick Monaghan was exceptional in midfield along with Shane Lally, Conor O Neill and Micheal Glynn, while Josh Lane and James Barclay worked tirelessly up front. Other players involved on the day were Ally Layton, Thomas Carr, James Moran, Darren Moran and Liam Lally.
Under tough weather conditions in Colemanstown on Saturday, our under 15s took on Knocknacarra and secured a well deserved 4-1 victory for the home side. The game was tight in the first half with few chances falling to either side and it ended scoreless at half time. Our back four of Ronan Carr, Gerard Warde, Dylan Kelly and Alan Cannon all put in very solid tight performances to keep the Knocknacarra attack at bay. Five minutes after the restart, the on form Keith Connell rose highest from a corner supplied by Lee Murphy to head the ball into the back of the net to make it 1-0 to Colemanstown. Ronan O’Neill put the home side 2 up scoring a half volley on the back post from another corner supplied again by Lee Murphy. Lee Murphy also got his name on the score sheet with a great individual goal mid way through the second half. Jack Layton, Darragh Murhpy and Shane Coleman all came off the bench for Colemanstown to put in great team performances. Colemanstown finished off their scoring run when Daragh Murhpy passed a great ball through to Keith Murphy who slotted the ball under the keeper to make it 4-0. Knocknacarra pulled a late goal back to made the final score 4-1. Well done to all the lads on another good performance to remain unbeaten for the season.
