Get ready to have a quacking good time at our first ever Ducky Derby Fundraiser, next Saturday morning, April 19th at 11:30am! It’s shaping up to be a frenzy of fun for all the family – especially for the kids. You’ll have seen the momentum building on our social media channels over the past few weeks – the duck hype is real & now it’s finally time to let those small beaked yellow racers loose!
Our crack team of water wizards have been busy – cleaning the river, testing the flow & even running practice laps with the ducky contenders. Ducks are flying out the door for just €5 – grab yours before they’re gone at:
– UR Coffee Dock @ the Clubhouse. – Monivea Post Office. – Thompsons Bar, Menlough. – Ruanes Bar, Glentane. – Costcutters, Menlough. – Burkes Bar, Colemanstown. – Ducks can also be purchased on the morning at UR coffee dock.
And here’s the craic: We’ve got prizes for the winners & the best named ducks – so get the creative hats on! Some early entries include: Paddy McPaddle, Cheese & Quackers, Daffy, CR7 Quacked
The race kicks off from the bridge at Alfie Doyle’s house where hundreds of bright yellow red beaked speedsters hit the river & flow in the direction of the pitch. Spectators can watch the ducky drama unfold from the field side of the riverbank. Whether you’re there to win or just there for the craic, it’s a morning not to be missed.
Don’t forget to swing by UR Coffee Dock for all your hot beverage brews & fresh scrumptious home bakes while your duck makes its dash for glory. Bring the kids, bring the neighbours, even bring your granny & grandad. It’s going to be a mighty morning of laughs, splashes & good old fun & a great opening to your Easter bank holiday weekend.
And here’s something to keep an eye on this week– our MC for the day is a big name in our community but we’re keeping his identify under wraps … for now…. Keep an eye on our social media channels during the week as the big reveal unfolds – trust us, you’ll want to see who’ll be on the mic!
So waddle on down to Colemanstown FC & join the duck flock next Saturday. This event is going to be a real quacker!
