First up for early morning action at 10.30 this morning were our U13’s who took on Moyne Villa at home in the league. This game saw Colemanstown defend superbly as the ball was in the middle third for the majority of the game. An unorthodox finish from a volley with 12mins to go saw Colemanstown break the deadlock as Sean Hansberry connected perfectly with the outside of his right boot to palpable relief from the Colemanstown sideline. There wasn’t many chances in this game where both defences were on top but Jason Connolly made a superb first half save to keep us in the game while Conor Moran was just wide with a free kick after Anthony Feeney was taken down. In the 2nd half Colemanstown edged the game in terms of dominance as Ryan Noone scored but was adjudged to be offside. Then came Sean Hansberry’s piece of art to put the game to bed while Michael Flattery had a good effort which was just wide shortly afterwards. Conor Moran, Michael Ryan, Eoin Concannon & Dara Hansberry drove the team forward from the back while Michael Flattery & Sean Hansberry added great impetus at midfield. It was a worthy and well deserved 2nd win of the league which will help greatly in propping us up the table. Well done to Anthony Feeney who played almost the entire game for the U13’s and then made his way to Skehana astro where he played the 2nd half of the U 11 Developmental league game against Ramblers. If that’s not what you’d call a tough lad at only 10years old!!. There was a goal feast in our U11 game with Thomas Mellody (2), Jonah Donnellan (2), David Walsh, Ciaran Keating & Adam Cleary amongst the goal scorers as 18 U11’s played a half each in splendid Winter sunshine.
Our U15’s travelled to Clarinbridge to take on Colga in their 11am KO and strolled to an easy league victory. Thady Moran lead the charge on the left wing coupled with Shane Loughrey. Spanish signing Lucas Sanchez also did well on the left wing when introduced but in essence it was an easy day for Daniel Glynn in goals while our rearguard could have been making daisy chains (if there were Winter daisies!). We saw 8 different goal scorers with 4 in each half; Josh Brennan, Keith Forde, Shane Loughrey, Alan Naughton, Thady Moran, Luke Mitchell, Ian Geraghty, Mika Harnun. It was a good overall team display and a joy to watch as the ball was sprayed about to great effect.
Meanwhile our B team continued their less than inspiring start to the league with a 2-1 home loss to Loughrea but as we have seen traditionally from them in the past, they make an incredible surge for the 2nd half of the season. This time, with the bare 11 players, due to football, injuries and unavailability of players, they put in a trojan effort only to come up short conceding the winner to Loughrea in the last few minutes. Jason Burke scored our goal to claim his 2nd goal of the season. We await the surge!
Tomorrow morning our A team travel to Bohermore to play Galway Hibs at 11am in the league. Your support is indeed truly welcome.
