Colemanstown U19 Girls 0 -3 Colga Premier Colemanstown U19’s came up against a very determined Colga Girls team on Sunday in Colemanstown and it went the way of the visitors in the end. Colga started the better with a lot of good passing soccer. Colemanstown however defended stoutly up to the 20th min when our defence got caught by a huge clearance from Colga’s back line, the ball bounced fortuitously and the Colga striker let fly into the bottom corner. Colemanstown tried to get the goal back with some great attacking play from Libby Kennedy who broke through on the 40th min just to see her shot whizz the wrong side of the post.
Half time arrived with Colemanstown 1 – 0 down. The 2nd half started much better for the Colemanstown girls; they were the ones playing great attacking and passing soccer. In the 60th min and totally against the run of play Colga had one of just a few attacks and their striker struck for a 2nd time putting a great shot past Nina Bujak into the bottom corner. After this Colemanstown were deflated but not giving up just yet. Niamh Kennedy who was substituted at half time was rolled back on in the 75th min, this time in a strikers role. Niamh did a super job running through the defenders, getting decent shots on goal but luckily for Colga their keeper was on top of her game, pulling saves from all angles as well as advancing quickly off her line to smother the Colemanstown attackers.
But again Colemanstown were unfortunate as they were caught on the break yet again, this time Colga broke down the right and had a weak enough shot at goal; Nina Bujak went down to her right to make the save but the ball bounced over her hands from the rugged ground and into the bottom corner to make it 3-0. From there, the game fizzled out as there was no way back from. 3-0 down. It ended colemanstown 0 -3 Colga. Match report by Philip Dee.
