Under 12’s drew 2-2 with Cregmore on Saturday and got off to the worst
possible start conceding an early goal 2 minutes in. Immediately
following the kick off, Colemanstown, however, changed gear and manned
the entire midfield berth with Ronan O’Neill, Lorcan Molloy, Conor
O’Neill & Stephen Kelly in complete control and linked up neatly in
some fine passages of play. Darren Brennan had his effort cleared off
the line following some exquisite play from the diminutive Kieran
Dowd. 1-0 half time. Colemanstown started the 2nd half in similar
fashion to the 1st half when they conceded another goal 5 mins in, to
go 2-0 down. The management made some astute changes in formation and
the introduction of Josh Lane made a telling impact. Colemanstown’s
comeback was initiated when Daniel Masterson won the ball superbly in
midfield, dribbled past 3 players and shot to the net for a classic
individual goal. Man of the match Ronan O”neill was in complete
control at midfield and showed his strength, power & determination in
some great passing movements. The equalizer came in a move initiated
by anchorman Ronan O’Neill & Lorcan Molloy on the wing who fed the
ball quickly to Daniel Masterson whose effort from 30yards was spilled
by the keeper only for Kieran Dowd to tap in from close range.
Cregmore threw everything at Colemanstown in a last ditch effort but
keeper Sean Murray was equal to the task while Josh Lane’s final
tackle ensured a fair share of the spoils.
Our A team played out yet another scoreless draw against Galway Bohs
in a disappointing performance when the extra points would certainly
have been welcome to prop them up the table a little.
