Colemanstown u-13’s demolished Barna Furbo 8-0 to remain on course in their climb to reach the summit of Div2 and were helped by table toppers Cregmore who drew with Athenry. There were 6 scorers in total in this away game as Thady Moran & Kellie Brennan netted twice a piece. It was Shane Burke who got Colemanstown off to a flying start on 2mins. Adam Wynne floated in a lovely free kick and Burke was perfectly positioned to bundle over the line. Kellie Brennan scored the first of her two goals on 10mins when she found herself one-on-one with the keeper and made no mistake in front of goal. Thady Moran trebled the lead with a splendid run from 40yards, rounded the keeper before a lovely finish. The home side failed to threaten in the first half as Colemanstown continued to run riot. Luke Mitchell scored No.4 as Kellie Brennan took a shot from outside the box; as the ball was bouncing towards goal the keeper failed to come and collect and Mitchell nipped in and chipped over his head. Thady Moran scored his second from 25yards after trojan work from Adam Wynne in midfield. 5-0 at the break as it was a quiet half for Colemanstown custodian Daniel Glynn; Ethan Lally, Josh Brennan & Brian Kelly in defence. Kellie Brennan scored her second of the day 10mins after the restart with a good individual goal as she rounded the keeper and shot from close range. Harry Greaney was introduced for Brian Kelly at half time, who together with Ethan Lally & Luke Mitchell had to depart the game early to travel to Leitrim-Kilnadeema to play u-14 hurling for Pearses. Jason Keane did all the donkey work on the left wing for goal No.7 and crossed the ball into the box where Harry Greaney made sure to finish although the ball looked like it was going in anyway. Josh Brennan completed the rout with a bullet from a Thady Moran corner. It was a good day all round and made a bit better by Athenry’s favour in holding Cregmore to a point as it looks like this u13 title race may go down to the wire.
