Our under 12 team beat Tuam Celtic 3-1 in the Connaught Cup under
lights in Tuam last week while they drew 1-1 with Athenry in their
recent league outing on Saturday.
‘B’ team gained some revenge for an earlier defeat inflicted on them
by near neighbours St. Bernards this time with a 2-1 win; with Barry
Donnellan & Steven Broderick getting the vital goals.
Our ‘A’ team were the superior team but yet drew 2-2 with Carraroe
side MacDara at home on Sunday. Colemanstown were quickest out of the
blocks with John O’Brien hitting the woodwork after 3 mins while the
resultant corner was cleared off the goal-line. MacDara scored on
20mins against the run of play following a defensive error while
Colemanstown pressed on and were rewarded 10 mins later when Joe
Finnerty scored his first competitive goal for the ‘A’ team after
great work from John O’Brien. Colemanstown scored early in the 2nd
half when Conor O Grady crashed a free kick to the net after debutant
David Farrell was fouled. John O Brien had a chance to make it 3-1
when he found himself one-on-one with the keeper but hit the ball
straight at him. MacDara equalised 20 mins into the 2nd half
following yet another defensive mix up to ensure a share of the
spoils
