Colemanstown U15B’s 3 – 6 Salthill Devon ‘C’
Even though Tadhg Hart enjoyed a hat-trick in the U15B’s 3-6 loss to Salthill Devon ‘C’ away on Saturday, it poured both rain and goals as Colemanstown came out on the wrong side of the scoreline to hosts Salthill Devon. Colemanstown made the most of the first half breeze and opened the scoring on 12mins when Sean Keating engineered a move at right back, played James Somers on the wing whose inch perfect through ball found Tadhg Hart in space whose sublime finish flew over the hosts keeper who received an injury in the process. Salthill responded though and pressurised our defence who maintained their composure and withstood the pressure for 5-6 mins until they buckled under the constant pressure when an inviting cross was well finished to make it 1-1. Jamie Lally struck a super free kick from the edge of the D but the ball which was destined for the top corner, curled last minute outside the post with the assistance of the breeze. Tadhg Hart also saw his attempted lob of the keeper sail over the crossbar. Hart put Colemanstown 2-1 up 5mins before the break when a through ball from Jamie Lally saw Hart stay onside and he made no mistake with the goal at his mercy to fire over the keeper’s shoulder. Half Time: Salthill Devon 1 – 2 Colemanstown.
In the second half and with the breeze at their backs, Devon handed Colemanstown a lesson that had them reeling. They blew their guests away from the restart as they monopolised the ball and space and were ahead by 18 mins with 5 quick-fire goals. Colemanstown pulled 1 back with 5mins to play with a great individual effort from Tadhg Hart to claim his hat trick as this time he found the top right corner. Colemanstown were limited to few second half chances as Salthill were not in relenting mood; Libby Kennedy going the closest. In the end, the whistle was kind on a tough, cold, wet day in Drom.
Squad: Tommy Nutley, Niall Grady, Eoghan Ryan, Tiernan Malone, Lucy Roberts, James Somers, Noah McDonnell, Erin Black, Niamh Kennedy, Tadhg Hart, Libby Kennedy, Sean Keating, Dylan King, Francis Weldon, Joe Carroll, Jamie Lally, Michael Lally.
Colemanstown U13’s 1 – 4 Merlin Woods.
Keelyn Kirby pulled one back after Merlin Woods took an early lead in the first half in Colemanstown on a wet and cold Saturday afternoon. A mix-up in defence with John Parker in goal made it 2-1 at the break by the Merlin Woods No.9 goal poacher. At half time there was everything to play for in a tight game but another second half defensive mistake by Colemanstown and a questionable 4th goal by the visitors put the game beyond reach for the Colemanstown U13 Boys as the game finished Colemanstown 1 – 4 Merlin Woods. Match report by Robbie Parker.
