Our first team earned a hard fought draw away to Colga in Clarinbridge on Sunday. In terrible conditions for football, Colemanstown created the best of the chances and Derek Kolenofski had the ball in the net twice but the referee adjudged them to be off side. The break through finally came on 30 minutes through the boot of Ronan Geraghty from a long range free kick. The second half was a battle against the wind and rain and our keeper Niall Gelston was called into action on a couple of occasions and pulled off two superb saves. Colga got their equaliser mid way through the second half and despite pressure from Colemanstown, the game finished 1-1.
Our “B” team played NUI in the Micheal Byrne cup this weekend. We were missing some key players and this showed in the end as we came out the
wrong side of a 4-2 score line. Our goal scorers on the day were Gary Lally from the spot and the second came from Alan Finn.
Our under 15s maintained their winning streak with a convincing 7-1 win against Renmore in Colemanstown on Saturday. We got off to the best start after five minutes when Lee Murphy passed a good ball to Paul Lally who rounded the keeper to slot the ball home to make it 1-0. The lads were still celebrating when Renmore made it 1-1. However, Colemanstown pulled away with goals from Paul Lally, Daniel Masterson, Lee Murphy, Ronan O’Neill and Dylan Kelly to make it 5-1 at half time. Ronan O Neill and Lee Murphy scored their second of the day to make the final score 7-1. Substitutes Jack Layton, Pierce Townsend and the long awaited return of Keith Murphy all put in great performances.
