Colemanstown United caused an upset last Sunday, when defeating table toppers Corrib Celtic on their own ground in a keenly fought First Division soccer tie. Colemanstown settled early and 15 minutes into the game Moran chipped the advancing goalkeeper for an early goal for the underdogs. However, just before the break Celtic equalised with a goal from Lardiner. In the opening 15 minutes of the second half Colemanstown had to absorb a lot of pressure but gradually took control of the game and some great work by Sean Moran produced a second goal. Corrib Celtic pushed hard for an equaliser, but the victors held on until to the end to secure the victory and the points.
