Oughterard started this game brightly and looked like they would inflict serious damage on Colemanstown’s youngsters but Colemanstown took a while to compose themselves and soon got into the game. Oughterard’s early dominance was rewarded when the right winger cut in well and applied a great finish. Colemanstown’s best chance of the half fell to Conor Jackson whose powerful header was saved on the line. Colemanstown were quickest out of the blocks in the 2nd half; our defense, namely Ronan Geraghty, Jason Finn, Kenny Duane & Alan Walsh were exceptional completely snuffing out any Oughterard attempt at goal. Our first goal came following great play from Conor Jackson on the right wing, his deft low cross across the box fell perfectly for John Keely who finished from close range. Oughterard had a chance to equalise shortly afterwards from a set piece but keeper Joe Flannery spread himself superbly as his fingertip save was top class. Our second goal came direct from a Ronan Geraghty free kick from all of 35 yards after he was denied moments earlier in a similar position when he blasted his shot on target but the Oughterard custodian was equal to the task. There was little more to shout about for the remainder of the game as Colemanstown held up play superbly to ensure a hard grafted 2-1 win .
