Both U12 Teams Lose Out in First Round of Connacht Cup

Check out the 2 match reports below for U12A and U12B Connacht Cup games over the weekend:
U12 ‘A’ Team versus Kiltullagh
Colemanstown U12A Team lined out in windy conditions against a strong Kiltullagh A side in the first round of the Connacht Cup in Kiltulla last Saturday morning. The teams were evenly matched throughout, with Colemanstown having more opportunities to shoot in the first half, but were unable to get past the crowded Kiltullagh defense.  They went 1-0 down from a well taken Kiltullagh penalty just before half time.  In the second half both teams put in huge effort, with well taken runs, tackles and shots.  However, Kiltullagh pulled away with 2 goals in quick succession during the second half.  Colemanstown never gave up in pursuit of goals and continued to press hard but the Kiltullagh defense and keeper were up to the job.  Final score 3-0
Squad: Darren Moran, Cillian Roche, Joshua McDonnell, Shane Quirke, Conor Walsh, Fionn Donohue, Nathan Mannion, Joshua Buckley, Cathal Keane, Ryan Concannon, Daniel Lydon

U12 ‘B’ Team versus Barna/ Furbo ‘B’

Back and forward to begin with Colemanstown with some solid defending showcased their hard work ethic. Tiernan Malone never gave his man an inch of room for the whole game. Niall Grady showed some positivity playing the ball forward to hardworking forwards Dylan King and
Evan Walsh.

Niamh Kennedy made a great save from long range effort soon into the game keeping the game at 0-0. And then came the breakthrough,  Padraic Kelly made an outstanding solo run from his own box before chipping the keeper to make it 1 nil to Colemanstown. Nearly immediately after this Barna equalised after a low finish into the bottom corner. Barna then got on top and after a very harsh penalty was awarded, they made it 2-1 just before half time.

Barna went 3-1 up shortly after the second half whistle after an unfortunate deflection. Francis Weldon worked tirelessly in midfield looking for the killer pass to try and break open a resilient Barna defence.
Ronan Screene captained the side and showcased his true leadership putting his body on the line on many occasions. Ella Carroll showcased her skill, dribbling past several players before playing a killer ball to Aaron Lyndsey Bane who was denied by a wonderful save from the keeper.

After Colemanstown pushed forward to try and get a goal back, Barna swiftly broke and got a 4th and a 5th soon after.

Brighter days are surely to come for this young U12 team and well done to everyone that lined out.
