Colemanstown had all the play in the 1st half, entirely dominating this game but in the end were lucky to come away with a share of the spoils. Robbie Lally scored the opener on 15mins with an exceptional overhead kick following a mid-height cross from Steven Broderick. Colemanstown could have been up more at the break should they have taken the notable chances presented to Conor O’Grady, Steven Broderick & Robbie Lally and given the amount of possession they had. Ramblers equalised not long before the break and this deflated
Colemanstown a certain degree. The game seemed to be drifting away from them when Conor O’Grady revitalised the contest for a short while when he volleyed home a Finbar Donnellan cross from close range for a tonic goal. There was little more to shout about in the 2nd half as Colemanstown allowed Ramblers back into the game. They got their well merited equaliser with 10mins to go as Colemanstown conceded a sloppy goal which completely deflated our lads. Final score 2-2. This game was probably lost in the 1st half when Colemanstown’s dominance yielded little in terms of goals when in truth they could have been 3-0 up at the break. Thomas Broderick yet again showed the midas touch as he reacted well in making some fine saves, Conor O’Grady on the left wing and Steven Broderick in the 1st half were by far the best on duty. Thanks to manager Kieran O’Connor for facilitating an earlier kick off as requested by Ramblers to allow them support their colleagues Leitrim/Kilnadeema in the Intermediate hurling final later in the day.
