Colemanstown’s 1st team went down to table toppers OLBC on Sunday. Colemanstown belied their lowly league position and really put it up to the city side throughout the game. OLBC went in 1 nil up at the break courtesy of a long ball over the top which caught out the Colemanstown defence. Ronan Geraghty had a glorious chance to equalise shortly after but blazed over from 6 yards and Ollie Crowe missed out on an equaliser when he got on the end of a free kick and his looping header very nearly beat the opposing keeper. The 2nd half took off where the first have left. Colemanstown’s good play was duly rewarded when they where awarded a penalty midway through the second half. Unfortunately the ever reliable Tom Flannery clipped the outside of the post with the penalty. At the other end, stand in keeper Joe Finnerty pulled off some top class saves to keep the game alive. OLBC got a second right at the death to leave the game finishing 2 – 0.
Our U-14s lost out 4-0 to Castlebar Celtic in the SFAI Cup on Saturday.
