Our A team narrowly went down in their top of the table clash with Tuam Celtic hosted by Tuam last weekend. Colemanstown’s plight was not helped by two early injuries to two of their most seasoned campaigners Alan Finn and Damien Wynne. Colemanstown had the better of the opening exchanges. Thady Moran unleashed an excellent left foot strike just held by the Tuam keeper on 25mins. Thady again involved a few minutes later slipping in Gary Lally whose strike was again gathered by the Tuam custodian. A quick set piece ended with a Gary Lally shot going narrowly wide of the post. Lady Luck shined on Tuam on 42mins when a misplaced defensive header fell to the Tuam striker and he managed to bundle it over the line to give Tuam the edge going into the break.
The second half was an evenly balanced affair with half chances falling to both sides. In the late exchanges as Colemanstown chased the game Tom Flannery crashed a close range free kick off the defensive wall. Tom was then the provider of a low cross that found Jason Finn whose instinctive flick just rounded the post. Final chance of the game fell to the head of Gary Lally who failed to find the target.
The game on the whole was a tight contest with neither side dominating. Tuam Celtic have the advantage in the league standings but still plenty to play for the Colemanstown boys. Final Score: Tuam Celtic 1 – Colemanstown 0. Report by Garry O’Grady
