On a miserable wet and windy Saturday our ‘B’ Team made the trip to Barna na Forbacha in the 6th game of the season, again with a number of players unavailable – we had just 12 players to field from. We never got into the game in the first half with our opponents having their first chance on 10 mins which was brilliantly saved by Tom Broderick. Our passing game was letting us down and we were punished on 20 minutes as Barna opened their account. Our first shot on goal was on 25 mins – a long range effort from David Mullins which just went over the bar. A minute before half time the hosts scored again. 2-0 down at the break.
The half time team talk wasn’t pretty; alot was said to try to get the lads heads back into the game. The second half display was much better as we created more chances but no end result. Barna also had chances and it was tough going in the weather conditions.
Both teams failed to produce anything note worthy and the game ended 2-0 to the hosts. As has been the case all season we haven’t enough committed squad players which is a real shame.
Squad: Tom Broderick, Kerrill Lally, Steven Broderick, Stephen Lyons, Robert Cosgrove, Conor Moran, Paul Moore, David Mullins, Ronan Skehill, Shane Lally, Kevin Moore, Niall Skehill.
Next up is a Connacht cup fixture against Moyne Villa at home on Sunday morning at an earlier KO than usual at 10:30am.
