Our B team’s slide continued as they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Kinvara
in their latest league outing on Saturday. Colemanstown dominated the
1st half aided by a stiff breeze but conceeded on the half hour mark
when the striker broke through 2 defenders to tap home from close
range. Damian Concannon equalised 10 mins into the 2nd half with a
smashing low hard drive from outside the box. It was tit for tat
until the end but the Kinvara side showed more grit & determination
and were duly rewarded with 2 mins to go with a cracking shot which
left keeper Kieran Connor hapless between the posts.
Our under 11’s lost out to a more superior St. Bernards outfit on
Thursday evening. St Bernards wasted no time and set the tone early
on with 3 before half time and added 2 more in the 2nd half to
complete a 5-0 rout.
Our under 12’s drew 1-1 with Mervue in their latest encounter. Mervue
scored on 10 mins with the wind at their backs with a good strike from
the edge of the box. Lorcan Molloy did all the donkey work for the
equaliser when he picked up a loose ball at midfield and a perfectly
executed cross found the diminutitive Kieran Dowd who clinically
finished from the edge of the box. Lorcan Molloy was unlucky himself
where he hit the woodwork twice in the opening half while Ronan
O’Neill hit the crossbar with a free kick. Man of the match keeper
Sean Murray kept us in the game with a string of super saves notably a
one handed save where he pushed the ball away as it dipped towards
goal and another superb one-on-one strike where he advanced off his
line to pull off a point blank save.
