Our under 11’s had a recent boosting 2-1 league win over Oughterard.
The game started well with both teams sharing possession equally.
Josh Lane was causing problems up front from the outset and eventually
fed Conor O Neill with a through ball which he neatly slotted under
the keeper. A quick response from Oughterard saw them level from a
corner and from there on, colemanstown dominated. A solid dispaly
from Stephen Kelly in goal ensured nothing else passed him, while Jack
Kennedy, James Moran, Colm Hansberry & Shane Lally were excellent at
the back. Ally Layton & Mossy Carr were punching holes in the defence
and when Conor O’Neill fed the excellent Darren Brennan there was no
stopping his thunderous effort from the narrowest of angles to push
Colemanstown ahead again. Conor O’Neill, Colm Hansberry & Josh lane
threatened the Oughterard goal while substitute Dylan Laffey was
always dangerous on the right wing in a dominant 2nd half performance
by Colemanstown that certainly pleased the home crowd. Jack Hughes
showed up everywhere with a man of the match display. He was rock
solid at the heart of the defence while also causing problems from
set-pieces twice going very close to opening his Colemanstown account.
Our under 12’s took on a gallant Cregmore side at home midweek in an
epic encounter. It was a tight affair with few chances falling to
both sides in the opening half. Following the restart chances fell to
Lorcan Molloy, Kieran Dowd & Sephen Kelly but the Cregmore keeper was
on top of his game. Midway through the 2nd half the deadlock was
broken when Jack Kennedy rose highest to head home an inch perfect
corner from Daniel Masterson. Further chances went a-begging from
Conor O’Neill & Brian Connolly who missed narrowly. And so, another
important 3 points in the bag with 2 games to play & 3 pts clear at
the top.
Our u-13’s travelled to Carraroe on Saturday to take on Cois Farraige,
early chances fell to an under strength Colemanstown side through Lee
Murphy & Aidan Monaghan but it was the home side who found the net on
25 mins with a thunderous effort from 25 yards and added another from
the penalty spot 2 mins later. Colemanstown pulled 1 back before the
interval also from the penalty spot which Lee Murphy duly converted
after a foul on the lively Kieran Dowd. The visitors controlled the
remainder of the 2nd half but their heroic efforts could not find the
net. Final Score: Colemanstown 1, Cois farraige 2
Our ‘A’ team played their last league encounter mid week and an under
strength side lost out to a more superior Colga outfit. They finished
in the top half of the table which is creditable to Garry O’Grady and
his highly proficient assistant Dom Coll, thanks to them both for the
major efforts put in all year. We wish Garry and his bride to be
Deirdre the very best wishes for their wedding on Friday.
Our ‘B’ Team beat Corrib Celtic 2-0 on Saturday with Steven Broderick
& Adrian Burke finding the net.
