A sunny and showery afternoon greeted Colemanstown’s U11 visit to Athenry in the Development league on Saturday. Two matches were played with Colemanstown split according to age. There was a great turnout of young Colemanstown players eager to get stuck in and display their skills. Everyone put in a tremendous effort and played their hearts out in a fine display. The first match was level 1-1 at half time with Colemanstown turning up the heat in the second half attacking and defending with ferocity to end up winning 6-3. The second match saw Colemanstown 4-1 down at the break with the score ending 7-4 to Athenry. Both halves of this match again saw fantastic displays all over the pitch with the Colemanstown lads unlucky to come out with a loss. The afternoon saw some brilliant play from both Colemanstown teams, with great tackles, passing and skills on display and everyone putting in great work. Thanks to Athenry FC for two fantastic games and for the tea, sandwiches and biscuits supplied to the parents! Well done to all.
