As ever right at the heart of the promotion race from the Western Hygiene Supplies First Division, Colemanstown put together their best performance of the season last Sunday as they registered an 8-2 victory over OLBC. It was a content that was right in the balance as the home side led 3-2 at the break, but 5 second half goals blew away the visitors.
Colemanstown took an early lead through a fine Barry Donnellan solo effort and he then linked up with Colin O’Grady to set up a second. Boys Club, badly in need of points at the wrong end of the table, showed great character to level matters at 2-2 with goals by Jimmy Jennings and John Keogh.
However that recovery stung the home side into action as Mike O’Grady, Derwin Costello and Niall Rohan began to have a greater impact and once they regained the advantage just before the break, they never looked back as they ran out comfortable winners.
Colin O’Grady went on to add a hat-trick to bring his tally to four for the day, as Shane Bailey, Conor Feeney and Mark Finn completed the win in an impressive 8-2 win.
