When Colemanstown went down to a home defeat against Bohemians in the Western Hygiene Supplies Premier League ten days ago, it ensured they were going to be involved in a relegation battle. However the club’s response was very positive and last Sunday at Drom, they produced one of the shocks of the day with a 2-1 away win over Salthill Devon.
With the returning Darwin Costello excelling in midfield, Colemanstown put together a committed and enthusiastic performance. Scoreless at the break the visitors took the lead when Colin O’Grady broke through after gathering a Mark Finn pass and the striker then slipped the opener under the advancing Holland, Devon levelled matters when Mike Lindsey evaded a number of challenged before drilling home a low shot. Colemanstown clinched victory when the pacey O’Grady raced on to a Mike O’Grady delivery and like the opener, the unprotected Keeper was beaten from close range to give the visitors a surprise 2-1 victory.
