We had 3 matches down for decision at the weekend as our under 13’s took on Athenry on Saturday in a crucial league match. Try as they might but they just could not score. It was a game of near misses as they hit the post, the crossbar, squandered chances, penalty pleas etc. The game ended scoreless and leaves the u13’s now with no chance of winning the league. Our ‘B’ team had a tough afternoon away on Saturday also as they lost 5-0 in their final game of the season to a far superior Athenry team. It was 0-0 at half time as Athenry went on a second half rampage for a convincing win. On Sunday East United conceded their league encounter with the ‘A’ team with just one hours notice. The A team will be hoping for another solid team effort on Sunday next as they take on Boyle Celtic in the 5th round of the Connaught Cup at home at 11am. Please come along and support these lads on this huge occasion. Meanwhile our under 9’s & u11’s take part in the half time entertainment this Friday night 10th April in Eamon Deacy Park for the Galway Utd vs Sligo Rovers game. They will form a guard of honour for both teams and lead both sets of players out to the pitch so there’s great excitement in store.
