Colemanstown under 13’s maintained second place position with a comprehensive 3-0 away win as they breezed past Maree/Oranmore on Saturday. Luke Mitchell opened the scoring with his 2nd goal of the season after 20 minutes when he made the most of a mix up between defence and keeper to tap in from close range. Jason Keane made it two just five minutes later following convincing work again from Luke Mitchell who dispossessed the Oranmore defender with ease and Jason Keane showed true poaching skills with his left footed shot to the left of the keeper. Colemanstown looked the brighter team from the outset as earlier chances fell to Shane Burke who failed to squeeze the ball through a crowded box while Thady Moran had a few good runs at goal and always looked dangerous. In the second half, Harry Greaney fluffed some good chances, blazing two efforts over the bar in front of an open goal. Thady Moran continued with his dangerous crosses into the danger area while Adam Wynne was unlucky with some long range efforts. Colemanstown sealed the points with 10mins remaining as Thady Moran lofted a superbly taken corner which was headed back by Adam Wynne and Oranmore’s attempted clearance was flicked into their own net but credit goes to Adam Wynne for the goal. Shane Burke had another chance towards the death but the home keeper did well. 3-0 it finished as David Gilligans’ boys proved too strong, full of purpose and well organised but for the Oranmore side it was a long match. Meanwhile our u18’s had a bad day at the office as they lost 3-0 away to Knocknacarra in the GFA Shield. It was a tough day for all, players and the management team.
