A near visit to Westdoc was almost bestowed upon our u13 manager David Gilligan as he sent his brother Shane as a delegate in the early hours of Saturday morning to assist co-manager Niall Gelston as they embarked on the long trip by bus to Carraroe in the first u13 league game of the sesaon. It was the home side, Cois Farraige who came out with more firing power in this battle as both sides has to acclimatise to the larger pitch having played 9-a-side and small sided goals last season. So this was always going to be a step up and then with the bare 11 on the day it makes things that little bit harder. Colemanstown were 2-0 down by half time as the home side bossed the game apart from a few half chances from Thady Moran. Colemanstown were thrown a lifeline 10mins after the restart with a Thady Moran goal which originated from a neat exchange of passes involving Luke Mitchell & Mika Harun before Thady lashed a 20 yard drive to the net. Thady Moran had a free kick saved afterwards as the Carraroe side got one more to turn the screw on this tired Colemanstown side who had no fresh legs to introduce. Even though 3 goals were conceded our back 4 were tremendous and battled well, showing no fear whatsoever and only for them the margin of victory could easily have been more. Team: Jason Fahy, Ethan Lally, Josh Brennan, Brian Kelly, Kyle McGuire-Greaney, Thady Moran, Mika Harun, Jason Keane, Shane Burke, Luke Mitchell & Evan Waldron. Thanks a mil to Niall & Shane for yer trojan efforts lads in the absence of the real boss!
