Another ‘coulda, woulda, shoulda’ for B team

The seeds of new beginning that were sown last week failed to thrive this week as our ‘B’ team suffered their second loss of the season. As Ross Sullivan says ‘Another coulda, woulda, shoulda’ but didna as they lost 4-2 yesterday to a more superior and physically strong city side Galway Hibs. Hibs’ first goal came right at the point of a banger going off and one could have been forgiven for thinking that Halloween had come early. This unsettled Adrian Burke a bit in the Colemanstown goal as the ball was tapped underneath his legs. Sean Walsh levelled matters just before half time after good link work with Shane Bailey, he controlled the ball well and a neat volley finish from the edge of the 18yard box was enough to find the net. Poor defending immediately following the restart saw Colemanstown concede an early 2nd half goal. Hibs got a third from the penalty spot soon afterwards, albeit it may have been a harsh call as Rob Lally was adjudged to have fouled the incoming striker as Adrian Burke got his fingers to it but couldn’t do enough. Colemanstown got another back as they combined high skill and hard running in a move involving Conor O’ Grady on the right wing and Shane Bailey and finished by Sean Walsh in what was a mighty accomplished performance by him. At this stage Colemanstown’s self-belief was returning as Hibs had a player sent off for 2 yellow cards as Colemanstown with numerical advantage were pressing for the equaliser. Gary Broderick headed a goal chance off the line and then against the run of play Hibs lashed in their fourth from a corner kick when the Colemanstown defence failed to clear and at this stage there was no way back for Colemanstown. The management team of Ross Sullivan and Gary Broderick maintained their 4-1-4-2 formation that had burrowed their way through the first few weeks of this season, will they revert back to their natural orthodox look for next weeks fixture rather than experimenting with new formations? There might be some management and team talks this week so look out lads!
