This result was well received by both teams who left Cappagh Park with a share of the spoils in a 2-2 draw in this latest under 12 league encounter. Colemanstown probably enjoyed the better chances in the opening half, even though they had few clear-cut chances, only half blocked efforts from Mika Harun, Thady Moran & Kellie Brennan. Colemanstown’s early dominance was rewarded mid way through the first half when Kellie Brennan’s attempt to chip the Knocknacarra defender took a deflection and found the net. Knocknacarra equalised from a set piece soon afterwards; a corner kick floated in and some good defensive work from Ethan Lally & Josh Brennan was not enough as Knocknacarra somehow poked the ball over the goal line. In the 2nd half Colemanstown’s Thady Moran made some great penetrating runs and his hard earned work orchestrated a few goalmouth scrambles for his side which were unproductive. The best of Colemanstown’s chances fell to Shane Burke, Kellie Brennan & Thady Moran but all were blocked by the defense. Knocknacarra went 2-1 up 20mins into the second half; a first attempt at goal was well saved by the Colemanstown custodian, Jason Fahy but the rebound went past the stranded keeper. 8mins later full back Josh Brennan unleashed a piledriver from distance to secure a well earned 2-2 draw. There were stellar displays from Shane Burke, Thady Moran, Jason Keane, Aaron Molly, Josh Brennan & Ethan Lally while Luke Mitchell threw the ball around well when introduced. There was little between these two sides on the table at the start of the game and it finished with nothing between the sides. Meanwhile, our ‘A’ team drew 3-1 in a friendly home encounter with Rosommon league side Kilkerrin United. Colemanstown sharpshooters were: Tom Flannery, Ollie Crowe & Damian Wynne.
