This Connaught cup tie against Roscommon side Ballymoe was tit for tat until Tomas Flannery broke the deadlock on 40 mins direct from a free kick from 30 yards. Earlier chances fell to Tom Flannery & John Keely but both were unable to find the target; the nearest Flannery’s exceptional volley which was cleared off the line. Ballymoe showed much threat up front as the Colemanstown custodian Joe Flannery ably dealt with everything which came his way. Any early second half chances of a Ballymoe comeback were snuffed out within 4 mins of the restart when Johnny Lally won the ball following a save and passed to the better positioned John Keely who found the net from close range. Damian Wynne sealed the win with a well worked goal when he won the ball in his own defense and following a few moves was again on the receiving end of a superb pass by the never tiring John Keely. Wynne eased past both centre backs to fire home the 3rd with 10mins to go. It was a day when Ritchie Lally & Jason Finn dominated the midfield exchanges while youngsters Paddy Mullins & Johnny Lally showed great maturity for their years with veteran defenders Ollie Crowe & Garry O’Grady in commanding control in defence showing that age is certainly not a barrier for quality! They are away to Ballinasloe Town or St. Pats in the next round (last 16) of the Connaught Cup scheduled for the 9th/10th March.
