A depleted Colemanstown side, due to injuries and unavailability of players, registered their 2nd league win of the season when a late opportunistic goal by veteran Garry O Grady was enough to see them grab all 3 points and win 2-1. St. Pats had the better share of possession in the 1st half but created few chances. They were rewarded however after 25mins when Pats scored after the ball broke kindly to the striker who knocked it into an empty net after ‘stand-in’ keeper Conor Jackson first failed to collect. Damian Concannon & Damian Wynne had Colemanstown’s best chances in the 1st half. It took a while for Colemanstown to get their bearings but they did just that in the 2nd half as they played with renewed energy & purpose. The equaliser came 20mins into the 2nd half when Alan Finn’s free kick was palmed out by the keeper but Trevor Mullins was perfectly positioned to tap home the rebound from the edge of the 6yard box. Conor Jackson pulled off a great save soon afterwards when he superby smothered the ball at the striker’s feet. The winner came on 86mins when Alan Walsh swung in a deep free kick which was half dealt with by a Pats defender on the goal line but up popped the ever astute and always battling veteran Garry O Grady who made no mistake in finding the winner which props Colemanstown well up above mid table. Colemanstown have showed great form of late and although some youngsters are being blooded at present, nevertheless they are settling in well. Well done lads.
