For Josh Lane, this was a game he wont forget in a while, scoring 4 goals and fine goals they were too, opportunistic, precise and pacy. Fresh from his sister’s wedding yesterday, Gary Broderick’s side gave a fantastic display and set about their business with focus. The game was barely 2 mins old when Josh Lane scored his first when he was on the end of a Geordan Kenny pass, rounded the keeper and tapped the ball to the net from close range. The never tiring Conor O’Neill was the provider for Lane’s 2nd goal which he also scored from close range. Colemanstown enjoyed almost a monopoly of possession for almost all the first half with Conor O’Neill & Odhran Loughrey passing the ball neatly around midfield and growing in confidence and organisation as the match progesssed. Jack Kennedy & James Moran were rock solid at centre back as Craughwell were unable to deal with their towering presence. Jack Hughes & Shane Hynes covered great ground on the wings popping up all over the pitch to break up some Craughwell attacks as well as originating some fine moves from defence. Josh Lane scored his and Colemanstown’s 3rd before the break in a set piece direct from a free kick all of 30yards near the sideline. Mossy Carr & Shane Lally whipped in great crosses from the wings time and time again to ensure Colemanstown maintained a wealth of possession. Colemanstown continued the 2nd half as they finished the 1st when Josh Lane scored again 10mins in to put the gme to bed and turn the screw on a Craughwell side who were simply not equipped to deal with the power of this Colemanstown side. Josh Lane finished with 4 well taken goals to his credit while Geordan Kenny’s 1st touch never let him down. Darren Moran performed admirably when introduced in the 2nd half whilst keeper Stephen Kelly easily gathered all goal bound efforts and could not be faulted for the goal conceeded with 10mins to go. It finished 4-1 to Colemanstown and although this team won the u13 Div2 league last season it was a sublime return to form for these youngsters with our debutants playing 2 years above their age group. We congratulate Linda Broderick & Damien Mannion too on tying the knot yesterday. We wish them both years of good health, wealth and happiness and here’s hoping that Gerry Broderick wont have long to wait for another top table speech or for Mary to display her culinary skills.
