It may not have been as well attended as the Volvo Ocean Race but in terms of ambiance and style it was certainly as successful. On Saturday last the club hosted a simply fabulous event to mark the 30th birthday milestone of Colemanstown United F.C. The club wish to say a big thank you to all who attended and participated in the fun novelty garden events. Well done to Kate Moran, Monivea and Shane Burke, Gurteen who came 1st & 2nd respectively in the spud picking junior event and to Eddie Concannon, Brierfield who won Kieran O’Connor’s hand carved ‘spud’ for his efforts in the adult section of the potato picking while closely followed by Andy Concannon, Claregalway in 2nd place. Thanks to Eddie also for providing a complementary bouncing castle to keep the youngsters entertained and to all who sponsored spot prizes and refreshments. Well done to Adrian Burke who won the football skills event and to juniors Thady Moran, Monivea; Aaron Moggan, Killererin and Conor Moran, Colemanstown who won 1st, 2nd & 3rd respectively in the same event testing their football skills to the limit. Everyone present also extended a warm welcome to two Belarus girls, Natasha & Hannah who thoroughly enjoyed the evening. They are currently being hosted by Mike & Regina Greally, Tiaquin, Colemanstown.
‘B’ Team players KL & SB showed off their new dancing skills late into the night to music by the splendid DJ Martin while ‘crutch’ Mannion was practising walking up the aisle and even Tommy K rolled up the legs of his trousers; sure then again there’s even songs written about him. For a few moments we even had the bride- to- be and the bridemaids strutting their stuff on the dance floor while the Menlough crew ensured they hadn’t the dance floor all to themselves. Luckily there was no one arrested for drinking infamous drinks or measuring inside legs;JG made sure of that. Thanks to all the food producers who put on a splendid array of homemade food equally as good as the Radisson SAS whilst we also know now that orders for wedding cakes can be placed directly at Burkes Bar. Thanks also to Frank, Bernie & family who ensured a successful, most enjoyable and smooth event and to Club Chairman TJ Carr on his complimentary words. Thanks to everyone who helped out on the day and assisted in so many ways and to Adrian Burke and his committee for taking on the organisation of this celebration and here’s hoping the next 30 years will be just as successful as the 1st. Photos to follow in our Gallery in the next few days.
Raffle winners on the night were: Maureen O Connor, Cloonkeenkerrill; Enda Moore, Ballymacward; Seamus Dilleen, Gurteen; Conor Saunders, Leixlip; PJ Burke, Gurteen & Aoife Hynes, Gurteen.
