It was a busy weekend of action with loads of games down for decision. First up on Thursday evening saw the return leg of table toppers Corofin v Colemanstown U13’s played at home. 3-0 to Corofin it finished but it was a hard earned win for Corofin and certainly not the runaway victory that everyone expected while the final score failed to do justice to our boys. Saturday saw a busy schedule of games with the reserves first to grace the field and goals from Ray Moran, Gary Lally, Shane Bailey & Niall Rohan ensured a well deserved 4-2 win to keep us mid-table. Then our B team took to the field for the first time since Christmas and the visitors, Athenry, quickly established themselves within a minute of the start and built from there for a comprehensive victory; the less said about this game, the better! On Sunday, a depleted U15 team took on Colga at home and came from 1-0 down to turn the game around and emerge victorious on a 4-2 scoreline. Shane Burke scored a goal in either half while Mika Harun & Conor Moran added to the scoreline. This was an outstanding performance from this 10 man squad as when any depleted team goes out, one expects a drubbing but these group of lads stunned everyone with their intensity and overwhelming determination to win. This win keeps them mid table with a game in hand. This evening, Monday our depleted U13’s played neighbours St. Bernards at home losing out 2-0 in this latest league game. Ryan Noone had the best chances, shaving the upright towards the end while with an earlier chance he also looked like finding the net but was crowded out before he had time to strike. This week sees a busy football week ahead with our A team in action at home tomorrow evening while the reserves are away to Colga, also tomorrow, both games kick off at 7pm. Our B team play St. Bernards at home on Wednesday evening; KO 7pm.
