U14 Girls Div 1 Corrib Rangers 2 – 3 Colemanstown . A brace from Maddie Rohan and a superb finish by Leah Hansberry was enough to see off a late challenge from Corrib Rangers on a sun drenched Saturday morning in Westside. The opening 15 minutes were evenly contested with Niamh Naughton, Grace Connolly, Aoife Walsh and Lily Burke having to dissipate some early pressure from Rangers. Shauna McDonagh and Muireann Roche eventually dominated proceedings in midfield spraying some excellent ball to Leah Hansberry on the wing and Aoife Morris upfront. Eveyln McDonnell was excellent in holding up the ball in the oppositions half and played the best game of her season so far. Colemanstown’s first goal was always coming and following a half cleared corner Madddie Rohan volleyed the ball to the net from 18 yards. Colemanstown went in 1 nil up at the break knowing they needed to put this game to bed early in the second half. Corrib Rangers had other plans and straight from the off they worked the ball in behind the Colemanstown defence. A fine strike forced a top class save from Lily Burke. This was the scare the girls needed and 5 minutes later Grace Jordon dribbled the ball out of defence linking up with Shauna McDonagh on the wing who found Leah Hansberry free on the edge of the box. Leah made no mistake with a pinpoint accurate bullet to the bottom corner. With 10 minutes to play Maddie Rohan got her 2nd and Colemanstowns 3rd with a well taken finish just inside the box. A well converted penalty after a handball in the box and goal on the break from Rangers provided a tense final couple of minutes towards the end of the game but the Colemanstown girls held on for a 3-2 win. This win leaves us in 2nd place on the table with 1 game remaining to leave us with a great chance of promotion next season. Match Report: Niall Rohan
Squad: Lily Burke, Grace Connolly, Niamh Naughton, Aoife Walsh, Grace Jordan, Muireann Roche, Shauna Mc Donagh, Leah Hansberry, Maddie Rohan, Evelyn McDonnell.
U14 Boys Div 2 Colemanstown 2 – 4 Oranmore / Maree. Our U14boys hosted league leaders Oranmore/ Maree on Saturday and despite starting well, they found themselves chasing the game early on as a foul on an Oranmore striker resulted in a penalty which was despatched 10mins in. The boys found it tough to deal with long balls over the top and two more goals before half time left the lads with a lot of work to do to get back into the game but fortune favours the brave and the lads battled hard to claw their way back into the game. The first breakthrough came thanks to relentless work from Daragh Blake and Dermot Parker who set up Sean Forde to reduce the deficit. Good work again from Dermot Parker who found the net with the aid of the post to set the game up for a grandstand finish. Unfortunately it was Oranmore / Maree who delivered the decisive blow as they lobbed Aidan Quinn late on to leave the score 4 – 2 in favour of Oranmore/ Maree as Colemanstown pushed hard for the equaliser. Special credit is due to the lads who played their hearts out despite having already competed in other matches earlier in the day. Their commitment, resilience & fighting spirit were truly commendable as they left everything on the pitch for their team. They can be proud of their effort and determination. Match Report: Alan Walsh

Junior Championship: Colemanstown 0 – 2 St Bernards. Near neighbours & rivals Colemanstown & St. Bernard’s went head-to-head in this fiercely contested latest league game at home on Saturday. Colemanstown started reasonably well with plenty of intent & energy. However, disaster struck after 10mins when a penalty was awarded to Bernards which they duly dispatched to take an early lead. Despite the setback, Colemanstown responded positively & created a few decent chances, the most notable being Thady Moran’s powerful header which thundered off the crossbar. The visitors scored a 2nd from a corner 10mins before the break leaving Colemanstown with a tough task in the 2nd half. Despite playing well in patches matters were compounded when Alan Finn saw a 2nd yellow 5mins after the restart. Although down to 10 men, Colemanstown played decent football as Bernard’s were happy to sit back & defend their lead allowing Colemanstown to create a few half-chances throughout the remainder of the game. Unfortunately, none were converted to claw their way back into the game. Special mention to Kerrill Hardiman, who stepped up to play in the unfamiliar position of keeper in the absence of regular injured keeper Alan ‘Junior’ Finn. Despite his inexperience in goal, he put in a brave & committed performance. While the 2-0 loss was a rather disappointing result & not what we wanted, the team’s battling spirit, particularly when reduced to 10 men, was undeniable. Match Report: Martina Donnellan
