On a lovely evening for soccer our U13’s got off to a flying start at home against Tuam Celtic this evening. Ryan Noone, Conor Moran & Eoin Concannon missed some good chances but Conor Moran found the net from 25yards on 15mins with a free kick; a top corner job. Tuam Celtic also had some good early chances but Jason Connolly was equal to the task in goal. Then the tide turned as Ryan Noone made it 2-0 when he ran on to a through ball from Eoin Concannon, rounded the defender and chipped the advancing keeper for a sublime finish. Just before half time Ryan scored his 2nd when he volleyed home at the near post after an inch perfect cross from Eoin Concannon. Half time score 3-0. In the 2nd half the visitors pulled a goal back 5 mins after the restart with a well taken finish. Luke Lally restored the 3 goal cushion soon afterwards when he latched onto a ball played through from Conor Moran and lobbed the keeper. Lally did well though as it was a difficult bouncing ball to control. There was little more to tell as few chances fell to either side for the remainder of the half. Overall, it was a good squad effort and the lads can be proud of this 4-1 result. Squad: Jason Connolly, Anthony Feeney, Dara Hasberry, Michael Ryan, Conor Byron, Liam Gormally, Michael Flattery, Sean Hansberry, Eoin Concannon, Conor Moran, Ryan Noone, Micahel Concannon, Darragh Diskin, Darragh Roche, Josh McGuire-Greaney & Artur Nikulins.
On Saturday, these lads drew 2-2 away to Moyne Villa. The Headford side got a controversial equaliser in the last minute of the game when the ref deemed the ball to have crossed the line. Colemanstown came from behind and levelled matters thanks to Ryan Noone while Sean Hansberry dispatched a penalty with relative ease to go 2-1 up until that controversial goal late in the game which ensured a share of the spoils. More pleasing though was the whole team work ethic that was shown in a tough encounter.
