U13 Girls win 5-0; U15 Girls Battle to 2-2 Draw in Hard fought encounter

U13 Girls Champ/Div1 Cup.  Kilshanvey 0-5 Colemanstown.  Our U13 Girls put in an immaculate away performance in their first round Cup game against Kilshanvey to advance to Round 2.  Kilshanvey fielded with an understrength team which made the style of Colemanstown’s win even more emphatic. Ava Forde opened the scoring with a great display of vision, timing and technique making everything look so easy. Lily Burke had little to do in goal while the back 4 of Eimear Flynn, Laoise Naughton, Amy Morrissey & Mia Corcoran roamed forward on every opportunity with Laura Hayes adding to that mix in the 2nd half.  Our girls had great rhythm from start to finish which the hosts failed to interrupt. The midfield quartet of Sorcha Nic an Iomaire, Kayla Maloney, Siana O’Grady & Julie Holohan retained possession for most of the game with Kate Geary & Lauren O’Grady doing similar in the 2nd half. Niamh Lally showed her true worth & went home satisfied having bagged 4 goals, 2 from centre back in the second half. That said we also spurned several good chances most notably from Ava Forde & Kate Geary throughout while we also met a Kilshanvey keeper well on top of her game. Final score: Kilshanvey 0 -5 Colemanstown. Match Report: Martina Donnellan

U15 Girls Championship. Moyne Villa 2 – 2 Colemanstown.  Having been beaten 4-1 by the same opposition in the 1st leg of the league earlier in the season, the contribution from every single player on Michelle Doyle’s squad had to be good to share the spoils with Moyne Villa away on Saturday evening. Emily Rohan opened the scoring on 5mins with a lovely assist from Chloe Flynn as the Colemanstown girls moved the ball around sharply early on. As the pressure built from the hosts, disaster struck when they came roaring back with 2 goals on 15 & 25mins respectively to leave them 2-1 up at the break. Despite the 1st half setback, Colemanstown were excellent in possession against top class opponents & within 2mins of the restart they hit back with a mighty long range effort from Grace Connolly to level matters. For the remainder of the game, the Colemanstown girls looked reassured at the back coping with everything that came their way coupled with some excellent stops by Lucy Butler in goals. Emily Rohan and Chloe Flynn created plenty of chances but Moyne Villa played extremely strong defensively with 6 players at the back at times in an effort to keep our forwards at bay. Tia Loughnane, Leah O’Connor, Shauna McDonagh and Roisin Ruane also tried their luck with some long range efforts but Moyne Villa’s netminder was in top form. In the last kick of the game as the hosts sensed a winner, Lucy Butler again made a top drawer save. In the end, a share of the spoils was the fairest result for two equally determined teams.  Match Report: Martina Donnellan
