Colemanstown U14 Boys SFAI Trophy. Colemanstown 0- 6 Ballisodare (Sligo). Our U14 Boys succumbed to a 0-6 home defeat to Sligo side Ballisodare on Saturday. It was a day in which nothing went right for us throughout the tie with chances galore but we were unable to take them. Games like this occur during the course of the season so Alan Walsh & his charges will take it on the chin and drive on. The visitors took the lead in this clash with their first attack – a long clearance over the top which their striker raced on to & finished well. This set the tone for the remainder of the game & put our lads on the back foot. Finian Walsh, Dermot Parker & Owen Hillary combined well in a super passage of play which culminated in the hard working Daniel Ruane knocking the ball onto the post with the keeper certainly beaten. Up the other end, Ballisodare scored immediately to double their advantage. Further good work from Colemanstown saw Dermot Parker grazing the top of the crossbar. Their 3rd arrived before the break when Colemanstown custodian Aidan Quinn did well to parry away a strong shot which rebounded to their striker who saw his effort cleared off the line by Daragh Blake & on the 3rd ask they found the net. Dermot Parker one of our liveliest on the field, hit the post as we just couldn’t find the target as we departed for the break 0-3 down. We made a few changes in the 2nd half with Jack Barrett, Mikey Nutley, Gearoid Griffin, Sean Forde & Thomas Kennedy all introduced. For most of the 2nd half, we were camped in the opposition half as Owen Hillary hit the crossbar soon after the restart. Again Dermot Parker clipped the post & Owen Hillary hit the crossbar. Then against the run of play the visitors hit a purple patch & added 3 more goals which put a shiny gloss on the scoreline for them. Despite our best efforts the visitors defended well & we just hadn’t the rub of the green or were not clinical enough in front of goal, despite creating the opportunities. The lads though will quickly put this defeat behind them and will hopefully get back to winning ways next weekend against Moyne Villa. The final score did little to reflect the nature of the game itself. Final score from Colemanstown: Colemanstown 0 – 6 Ballisodare (Sligo). Match report: Martina Donnellan

Colemanstown Junior Men’s Championsip: Colemanstown 3 – 5 Dynamo Blues. In a goal feast in Colemanstown on Saturday it was the hosts who started strong as Geordan Kenny slotted through a ball from the right hand side for Callum McKelvey to run on to & he made no mistake in finding the bottom left corner for the opener within 5 mins. We held our own for the next 20mins but Dynamo Blues scored 2 before the break, one a penalty for them to part at the break 1-2 to the good. The 2nd half saw Kevin Barrett come off the bench. We levelled matters soon after the restart after a tasty series of short passing where Callum McKelvey was taken down in the box; we saw the resultant spot kick saved only for Kevin Barrett to react first to slot home the rebound. In a tough encounter where everything was left on the field, we conceded 2 further goals but Kevin Barrett pulled one back again to put the minimum between the sides as Colemanstown looked vulnerable at times while the hosts looked merciless. The last few minutes Colemanstown threw everything at it to salvage a draw but it was the hosts who were rewarded with a 5th goal to ensure there was no way back for a gallant Colemanstown side. Final score: Colemanstown 3 -5 Dynamo Blues. Match Report: Andy McKelvey.
