On a bitterly cold day GCH claimed 1st, 2nd & 3rd prizes on the podium in this years 10k as last years winner Matt Bidwell, Galway City Harriers was first home again in a time of 33:39; not quite as fast as his PB he created last year. The breeze was quite stiff and played hell on the straight stretch as far as the 4k marker and runners found it difficult to make up on time for the remainder of the run. Last years 2nd placed winner Owen Byrne, GCH claimed 2nd again in 34:39 while Gearoid Hynes was 3rd home in 36:11. In the ladies run Sinead Brody, Athenry AC was 1st home in a new course record of 41:00 for the ladies. Sinead Foran was 2nd in a time of 42:07 while 3rd was Aoife Callan, Athenry AC in 43:14. Category winners were: Joe Morrissey, Male O40; Jane Walsh, GCH, Female O40; Anthony McCormack, Male O50; Mary McHugh, GCH, Female O50; Liam Lowry, Male O60. Gearoid Rohan was 1st local home again & 13th overall in 39:12. Pat McDonagh also did impressive running in a time of 41:39 and is now sponsored by ‘herbalife’ and will be wearing a green singlet hereafter thanks to the input from Kevin Greally while our own Kenny Duane did splendid running romping home as fresh as a daisy in 43.07. Michelle Ryan-Moran was 1st local lass to cross the line in a fine time of 46.19. The youngsters also had an enjoyable day as approx 65 kids took part in the 1k fun run and thanks to County hurler Cyril Donnellan who presented the participants with their finishers medal & goody bag. Sincere thanks & gratitude to every one who helped out in so many ways to make our run such a success and to Frank & Bernie Burke who sponsored the cash prizes for the winners. Also thanks to Athenry AC who sponsored our permit application. Full results of Colemanstown 10k 2013 are attached. Photos & further report to follow in the next few days. Colemanstown10km_2013
