A convincing win and a good all round display by Colemanstown ‘B’ secured their first points of the season against Connemara side Naomh Briocain today on home soil. There is little doubt but Colemanstown deserved this victory and completely dominated the first half proceedings. They were 1-0 up at the break thanks to a fine penalty strike from Adrian Burke. Robert Lally also hit the woodwork in the first half while the visitors missed an early chance when they drove wide from close range. Early in the 2nd half: Step up Adrian Burke again: his second penalty confidently dispatched equally as good as his first. Already a hot contender for the ‘Golden Boot’ on penalties alone. Robert Lally scored a late third to secure the points after great work from Joe Finnerty who repeatedly caused problems at midfield for the visitors. Thomas Broderick showed great agility and made some phenomenal saves at crucial stages and maintained a clean sheet. The team’s evolution under joint management of Kieran O’Connor & Conor Jackson appears to be slowly taking place. Earlier in the week their performance against Kinvara was déjà vu on their first outing. Another 2-1 loss as Galway Hurling goalkeeper Colm Callanan did all the damage with 2 well taken goals. Adrian Burke converted a penalty 20 mins into the 2nd half after the lively Conor O’Grady was fouled. Owen Folan missed from close range in the dying minutes to secure a point.
