Another gentle reminder of the popular Colemanstown 10k which takes place on Saturday March 26th at 12noon. There’s just 1 day left before online entries via www. runireland.com closes this Thurs 24th but one can always enter on the morning of the run by registering at the clubhouse. We stress to register in advance if at all possible as it avoids additional paperwork on the day. The last few years have seen a field of close to 200 tackle a lovely, flat, fast and quite scenic course as you run adjacent to the river for the last 2k or so.
Colemanstown 10K is a friendly event for runners of all abilities. One can walk, jog or run this 10k and there’s a complimentary gift for all participants. Prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd male & female winners generously sponsored once again by Frank & Bernie Burke, Colemanstown as well as category prizes for O40, O50 & O60 male & female and there’s an added incentive for a new course record, set by Matt Bidwell, GCH in 2012, time to beat 32:22. As in previous years there’s also a 1km fun run for children at 11am (€2 entry fee per child) with all kiddies receiving a medal and goodie bag.
We’re hoping for a big turnout on the day and we’d love to see some of the runners from local fit for life groups step up and test themselves over a 10K distance. Let’s hope this beautiful weather continues. On the night there is music by Joe Hession in Burke’s, Colemanstown and the March 50/50 draw will also take place on the night so hoping to see a big crowd around….. and then there’s the early rise on Easter morning for dawn mass at 6am. We might see more than the sun dancing…..
