This 5 goal away beating yesterday of our under 13 side by premier league team Craughwell was the heaviest inflicted on our u13’s this season. From the start of this game, Colemanstown knew the task in front of them yet there were equal to it for the first 10mins until Craughwell were awarded a dubious goal. The ball hit the outside of the back post and rebounded in to play where it was slotted to the net following the ensuing goalmouth scramble. The goal was awarded despite the strong pleas of our management team. 3 mins later Craughwell scored a second; this time a good legitimate goal as they worked the ball down the left flank, beat a few defenders and the advancing Jason Fahy in the Colemanstown goal to score from close range. 2-0 and Colemanstown knew they had an uphill battle. Craughwell scored again, before the break, this time a header from a corner to leave it 3-0 at half time. The home side scored 2 more soon after the restart but Thady Moran pulled one back to make it 5-1 with a good run through the middle of the park, skipped by the defenders and slotted the ball to the right of the keeper from distance. Craughwell got another before the end to finish convincing 6-1 winners and you would wonder if any side could have stopped them when in such flight. There was a gulf in class in evidence, 2 divisions between them, as Colemanstown found it difficult to curb Craughwell’s passing game while their big physical demeanour also made it difficult for our lads as the game finished all too easy for Craughwell who now advance to the next round of the cup. U13’s resume league action on Feb 7th in Colemanstown when they play Moyne Villa.
