Tributes were paid and a presentation made to Bobby Masterson at the club’s AGM on Friday night after his 6 year tenure with the club. Bobby first managed an u10 team 6 years ago and guided that same bulk of players to u16 grade last season. It is rare to find committed and enthusiastic people in any club but this epitomised Bobby. In those 6 years he was ‘first in’ to the clubhouse and ‘last out’ every time for training and matches. He packed his van with youngsters ensuring that no one was ever left without a seat to games, he treated his players in Supermacs time and time again all at his own expense; he had a great liaison with parents regarding forthcoming matches and training sessions. He built team after team in his 6 year management tenure and often started the season with the bones of a team and yet a few weeks in he would have sufficient numbers for a 2nd team which is a testament to Bobby himself in the way he organised things. In acknowledgement, appreciation and thanks for his energy, enthusiasm, attitude and efforts down through the years, Gerry Moran presented him with an engraved piece of Galway Crystal on behalf of Colemanstown United F.C. Bobby: thanks for your commitment and outstanding service and for all you have given to our club. It’s much appreciated and we hope you’ll be back with our club soon again following your recharge!
