Hatrick hero McKelvey to the fore in A Teams first league win

Our A team clocked their first 3 points of the season in dramatic fashion at home to Dynamo Blues on Sunday.  We found ourselves 1-0 down on 7mins after conceding a scrappy goal from a corner & the Blues unmarked striker finished with ease and so we were on the back foot from then. Although we played some meaningful football in passages, we created little chances in the first half other than a Josh Brennan effort which was fired over the bar.

A change of team formation in the 2nd half was hopeful of working wonders.  However, we conceded again within the first few mins of the restart in an attempted cross which made its way to the net & one would be forgiven for thinking this might be a rout. It was as if that goal ignited a switch as Immediately Colemanstown fought back in a good move involving Kerrill Hardiman, Richie Lally, young Kyle Madden & finished by new multi million signing Callum McKelvey. Soon after Sean Hardimans long delivery over the top was latched onto again by Callum McKelvey to make it 2-2 and so kick start the comeback. At this stage, Colemanstown were building from the back & had grown more steadily & confidently into the game.  McKelvey claimed his hatrick soon after with a free kick to justify his summer signing.   Sean Hardiman made it 4-2 in emphatic style to show the world that age is only a number.  In the last 5 mins the visitors clawed back a goal through a penalty to set up a nervy last 5 minutes but Colemanstown held out to claim a welcome first 3 pointer.

It was an overall team performance that gifted us with a mind-blowing comeback that proves nothing is impossible for this squad.  After the match, the hatrick hero took questions from the media with the match ball firmly in his grasp while young Kyle Madden showed great maturity for 17 years. Next up in the league is city side Corrib Rangers at home on Saturday next 14:30 KO.
